Giya Kancheli

Giya Kancheli is Georgia's most famous living composer and arguably its best-known cultural export. He has written music for dozens of films, many of them well-known in the Russian-speaking world but virtually unknown outside it, such as Georgi Daneliya's sci-fi cult hit Kin-dza-dza.
Theme from this film by Moscow Virtuosi. Conductor: Vladimir Spivakov.

Ganesh Anandan

The percussionist, composer and instrument-maker Ganesh Anandan was born in the south of India in Bangladore, the centre of Hindu Karnatic music. Ganesh Anandan works at transferring the rhythmic notions and percussive techniques of the south of India onto the tambourine, drums and various resonance surfaces. His dynamic style of playing is a unique blend of the classical Karnatic style with the North African and Persian traditions enhanced by a set of hand- and finger-techniques which he has himself developed.
Movietrailer of "VOM BLAUEN HIMMEL", a movie about mongolian shamanism.

Nagina

The Nagina is a snake in the form of a woman. In popular belief the snake is associated with wealth, fertility and power. In tantric symbolism, the snake represents the primal creative energy or Kundalini, which lies dormant in the space of the spine, which, when aroused, ascends and activates the chakras of the subtle body.
It is also the title of a movie made in Bombay. In the movie, the Nagina, played sumptuously by Sridevi, is discovered by her mother-in-law in her true form.

LAKME - DELIBES - OPERA IMAGINAIRE

Opera Imaginaire (1993) is an assembly of animated short films based on twelve of opera's most popular arias, including excerpts from "The Magic Flute," "Tosca," "Madame Butterfly," "Pagliacci" and more.

Flower duet, directed by Pascal Roulin, music from LAKME by Léo Delibes (1836-1891).

Under a dome of white jasmine
With the roses entwined together
On a river bank covered with flowers laughing in the morning

Gently floating on it's charming risings
On the river's current
On the shining waves
One hand reaches
Reaches for the bank
Where the spring sleeps and
The birds, the birds sing.

Under a dome of white jasmine
Ah! calling us
Together!

Under a dome of white jasmine
With the roses entwined together
On a river bank covered with flowers laughing in the morning
Let us descend together
Gently floating on it's charming risings,
On the river's current
On the shining waves,
One hand reaches,
Reaches for the bank,
Where the spring sleeps,
And the birds, the birds sing.

Under a dome of white jasmine
Ah! calling us
Together!

Fabulous!

Margazhi Raagam

People from all over the world come to Chennai in the Tamil month of Margazhi (Dec 15 to Jan 15) to experience the music that mingles with the chill and mist in the air. Hundreds of concerts everyday for 30 days makes the Chennai music festival one of a kind in the world.
At first, Aghal Movies Tamil film Margazhi Ragam may seem like a random collection of Carnatic concert compositions put together in a vaguely interesting fashion. The genius behind the feature is apparent to you only much later, as you truly get into the mood of the piece, along with the artistes.

Music, after all, is the food of gods and the common man.
